👑 Ladies and Gentleman — Reigning FPL World Champion Lovro Budisin

For the next article in the pre-season series, an exclusive first look at the Champ's FPL team. It's a really, really good team — it almost looks over budget.

Earlier in pre-season I did an interview with him which is completely free to read on fpl.page

I know half of you love to skip straight to the end to see the team — you know who you are — but for this one I'd recommend reading all the way through. We're going to analyse the picks, and he's also sent a ton of thoughts in for us which will be on screen as we move through the positions.

By the way, Lovro watches the content on the channel and destroyed my league last season with a 50-point lead so make sure you go subscribe over there! We'll be doing a similar article shortly looking at a few drafts from past FPL Champions — unmissable stuff!

🧤 Goalkeeper

  • Sánchez
One of the best defences last season — third fewest goals conceded after Arsenal and Liverpool, whose keepers set you back an extra £0.5m.
    Chelsea have better opening fixtures.
He pointed out it's a spot he's not sure on yet — could be a placeholder for another £5m keeper like Sels, or two £4.5m GKs.

🛡️ Defence

  • Williams, Gvardiol, and Udogie

    • Williams
There’s a clear trend that CBs are superior for defensive contributions, but Williams is a rare exception where he did well in both categories.
In fact, he would've gotten more DC points than any full back or wing back last season with 18.
Offers a £0.5m saving on Milenković and Murillo — could be a smart pick.

    • Gvardiol
I've gone cold on Gvardiol as a pick — they and Arsenal are poor for DC points, though obviously good clean sheet potential which might make up for it.
Just 10 extra points Gvardiol would've gotten last season, meanwhile Tarkowski would have been on an additional 44 and just 11 points behind Gvardiol for £0.5m cheaper.

    • Udogie
Frank said that Udogie felt something in their most recent friendly warm-up, so he was left out as a precaution.
One to monitor, though it sounds like a minor injury.
For £4.5m, he could provide excellent value and has a lovely opening fixture.
