GW7: Who are the best players to buy? 💰
We've got six gameweeks of data and can start to build a better picture of where the value is. That's all FPL fundamentally is: it's a game of finding value, where can we squeeze the most points per million spent? Easier said than done.
Goalkeepers 🧤
Arsenal have a home fixture to Nuno's West Ham, which has Raya top of the keepers for GW7.

-
Arsenal were the #2 defence for Expected Goals Conceded (xGC) until they faced Newcastle Sunday evening. Now it's flipped, and Arsenal's 3.9 expected goals conceded ranks best in the league after 6 games.
-
3 goals conceded is joint fewest with Palace, and 52 shots ranks #1 as well.

-
If you're a scout member search FPL Focal under public tables to view this one and all my other tables.
If you have the opportunity to make a keeper transfer or are on a wildcard, Raya is #1 🥇, he's miles ahead of the rest of the pack for the next 5. His fixture run is: West Ham (H), Fulham (A), Palace (H), Burnley (A), Sunderland (H).
-
Newcastle's fixtures look pretty solid as well in fairness, and Pope does offer a £0.5m saving.
-
He's second on the table this week with Newcastle playing home again, vs Forest. Then it's Brighton (A), Fulham (H), West Ham (H), Brentford (H).
-
Livramento's injury is a big concern; if they're forced to play Trippier week in week out, it could be a major issue. Howe may even resort to using a CB in right back or maybe even a formation change sometimes if it's a bad knee injury.
-
-
It's become clear early on that Petrovic is the best of the budget keepers, excluding Dubravka as a bench backup.
- Bournemouth's 5.45 xGC ranks third best after 6 games. They've literally gotten better defensively, not worse, compared to last season, which is incredible.
-
Roefs is the top scoring goalkeeper so he's worth a mention (39 points, that's 6.5 per game). The fixtures are pretty mixed long term though: Sunderland had an amazing opening run of games but in the next 10 gameweeks there's Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle.
-
For me, it's Petrovic or Raya if going for a keeper from this week: go super cheap or go premium.
Defenders 🛡️
-
Jimenez went off injured last match, Muniz wasn't in the squad either. If both strikers are out, that could spell good news for Bournemouth as well.
-
Senesi is the top scoring defender in the game right now, and he's on the table again this week with 4.4 points.

-
It's the Arsenal backline top of the table: Gabriel, Calafiori, Saliba, Timber.
-
As annoying as the Saliba 1 pointer was, if you have him don't sell. Arteta said "William Saliba is recovering from an ankle injury he's trying to resolve. We have to manage the squad." So he was evidently very close to starting, given he came on at half time and did make the bench. I'm expecting him to start GW7.
-
Timber looks by far the most explosive to me if you really want to push for the upside and take a chance he starts all games. It's very possible that right now he does, and White gets the starts in other comps.
-
Gabriel's header off the corner was the headline last match though, 13 pointer having also hit Defcon points and clinching 3 bonus. If you watch the experts series on this channel, there's a reason the top all-time managers backed him over Saliba.
-
-
Villa have Burnley home, which has got Cash on the table, who has scored this season from RB, though their fixtures aren't good after this gameweek so avoid.
-
More Defcon beasts: Tarkowski and Lacroix are on 4.3 and 4.1 points.
-
Another huge new feature added to the app is presets on the statistics widget—this is Defcon Beasts. Which players are best for Defcons/90? Which players have the best Defcon Success %? We've worked out how to measure this and you can see the potential. https://fpl.page/stats

- Senesi has 13.5 Defcons/90 in the #1 spot, then Tarkowski, Van Dijk, Andersen, Alderete.
-
So you could realistically go full Defcon with your defence plus Gabriel. So Gabriel, Tarkowski, Senesi, Andersen, Alderete. That's very well balanced.
-
A few honourable mentions that just miss out from making the table by 0.1 or so: Munoz, Gvardiol, Burn, Van Dijk, Richards.
