Welcome back for another article. 🗞️
Three gameweeks remaining, it's a small double gameweek next. Who are the best players to buy this week? Should we be buying Palace players?
🧤 Goalkeepers
-
So goalkeepers first, Donnarumma is of course top this week on 7.8 points, then Henderson second top. 🧤
-
If you're on a GW36 free hit or wildcard you definitely go without the Man City keeper, since the outfield players carry way more upside. Instead Henderson makes far more sense on either chip.
-
Henderson is really only worth considering if you've got at least several free transfers and can go for him as a one week punt, but again the Palace defenders are more of a priority if looking to buy in to their double gameweek.

-
It's worth repeating the quote from Glasner after their 3 - 0 loss to Bournemouth.
Let’s say you have a friend's birthday and your wedding [a few days later], you are more excited for the wedding. This is the same. Bournemouth’s semi-final was today — ours is Thursday.
-
The expectations are pretty low for Palace this week but maybe they'll surprise us, even without Glasner stating the obvious we all suspected their prioritisation of the league is low and Glasner rotating the team in recent weeks a sign of that.
-
Brighton are home to Wolves this gameweek so if you've got Verbruggen you're in a great position in goal, if you're in need of a cheap keeper this week and can't afford Henderson for example then he's your man.
-
He might do alright in their final 2 games as well if you're forced to paly him, Leeds away then Man Utd home as Brighton fight for European football next season.
-
Then further down the list Raya, Lammens, Martinez, Pickford and Sels. 🛡️
🛡️ Defenders
-
So let's take a look at defenders, it's almost completely a DGW list with O'Reilly top on FPL Review with 9.5 points, then Matheus, Guehi, Munoz, Richards, Khusanov, Lacrpoix and Kadioglu is the one single gameweek player. ⚽
-
O'Reilly is the staple Man City defender, by far the most owned, we're talking 91% ownership at the higher ranks which is third highest after Haaland and Bruno.

-
If you're really chasing and everyone in your league has him then Guehi or Nunes are alternatives to consider, left back is the one position Pep has good depth in defence right now so to play devil's advocate with Man City's schedule maybe there's a small chance he misses a game. It's a risky play and only worth mentioning for those looking at a way to differentiate in the final 3 gameweeks.
-
Another way is Palace defenders, and which one is the best really depends on your view of who is the most nailed. I would guess Munoz and Lacroix but you really don't known what Palace do in this unpredecented situation given they are Glasner's 2 best defenders, I would go Lacroix #1, Munoz #2, Richards #3 if ranking them.
-
You'd expect a good chance of defcon for Lacroix, he's averaged 10.79 per 90 over the season which ranks second best in the league after Senesi, Richards has also been solid with 9.98 per 90.

-
Canvot's not on the table due to fewer starts but if we adjust to include him then Canvot's 11.88 defcons per 90 is more than Senesi even and he's only 4.5m. A 73% defcon hit rate! 📈
-
Kadioglu is a huge upside defender this week for 4.4m, he's started every game since GW5 and just bagged a 15 pointer against Chelsea 2 games ago. Of course if you've got Van Hecke, perhaps from WC32 he's ideal to start this week too.
-
Gabriel is on 4.6 points this week which ranks among the best for single gameweek players, if you don't own any Arsenal defence then it could be time to buy back.
-
Man City drop points to Everton and Arsenal no longer need to chase goal difference, perhaps this will make their defenders a little more appealing. Gabriel and Saliba the only two defenders worth it right now, the rest are too risky, plus Raya is fine in goal of course.
