🔮 GW22 Complete Guide 🔮

⭐️ Breaking Down Every Game ⭐️ Rating FPL Prospects ⭐️ Predicting Results

👹 Manchester United vs Manchester City 🔵

Manchester United:

  • Not completely sure how they'll set up, but we'll probably see Bruno at 10
  • Defence can be quite vulnerable
  • Dangerous in transition

Manchester City:

  • High line (see image) can be exploited
  • Will overload central areas in possession
  • Semenyo has improved their wide play

Analysis ✍️

United are very dangerous in transition, and City's high line is there for the taking. However, it's hard to imagine this United side being solid enough to keep City out at the other end.

We don't know exactly what to expect from Carrick, but I think we'll see a lot of goals in this game.

🔮 Prediction: City win!

FPL Ratings

  • MUN Defence 🔴 – Not expecting a CS
  • MUN Attack 🟢 – City's high line is vulnerable
  • MCI Defence 🟠 – Low chance of a CS, but a decent DEFCON opportunity
  • MCI Attack 🟢 – If the game opens up, they could blow United away

🎯 Differential Pick: Mbeumo (8.9%) – Back from AFCON and could be the main beneficiary of City's high line!

🔵 Chelsea vs Brentford 🐝

Chelsea:

  • Rosenior uses a 3-2-5 in possession
  • Defence can be wobbly
  • If Palmer's out, their attack is significantly weaker

Brentford:

  • Very dangerous on the counter
  • Will either defend in a 4-4-2 (see image) or a 5-3-2
  • Defence can be slightly error-prone

Analysis ✍️

I expect Brentford to set up in a deep low block and play on the counter. They've got enough firepower to sting Chelsea. If the game opens up, Chelsea should create good chances, but I think Brentford can definitely frustrate the Blues.

🔮 Prediction: Brentford win!

FPL Ratings

  • CHE Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS, and a decent DEFCON opportunity
  • CHE Attack 🟠 – Will be facing a deep defence
  • BRE Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS, and a good DEFCON opportunity
  • BRE Attack 🟢 – This is their type of game

🎯 Differential Pick: Dango (0.3%) – Should get good opportunities on the counter!

⚪️ Leeds vs Fulham 🏡

Leeds:

  • Have been defending in a solid 5-4-1 (see image)
  • Calvert-Lewin is playing really well
  • Can lack end product in the final third

Fulham:

  • Attack hasn't looked as dangerous since AFCON started
  • Will probably play a 4-4-2, but could use a back 5 to match Leeds
  • Defence hasn't looked convincing recently

Analysis ✍️

I expect Leeds to keep Fulham relatively quiet and make the game very physical. Fulham are good enough to absorb this pressure, but they haven't been at their best without Iwobi and Chukwueze.

🔮 Prediction: Leeds win!

FPL Ratings

  • LEE Defence 🟠 – Decent chance of a CS + DEFCON
  • LEE Attack 🟠 – Fulham can be tough to break down, but I expect them to get chances
  • FUL Defence 🟠 – Decent chance of a CS + DEFCON
  • FUL Attack 🟠 – Leeds can be vulnerable when they open up, but I expect them to be tough to score against

🎯 Differential Pick: Aaronson (0.5%) – 3 goals in the last 2 games, and he's started the last 5 games!

🔴 Liverpool vs Burnley 🍷

Liverpool:

  • Have struggled to break teams down
  • Vulnerable from set-pieces
  • Wirtz and Ekitike are in good form

Burnley:

  • Will most likely sit deep in a 5-4-1 (see image)
  • Were open against United in GW21
  • Their attack is very weak

Analysis ✍️

Burnley will sit very deep, and Liverpool will have to break them down without conceding cheap goals.

Liverpool's attacking play is slowly improving, and Ekitike's fitness is a big boost.

🔮 Prediction: Liverpool win!

FPL Ratings

  • LIV Defence 🟢 – Good chance of a CS
  • LIV Attack 🟢 – If Burnley open up, Liverpool could score 3+ goals
  • BUR Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity
  • BUR Attack 🔴 – They're quite poor

🎯 Differential Pick: Frimpong (5.9%) – He'll most likely play as a winger in possession, and has a good chance of keeping a CS!

⚪️ Spurs vs West Ham ⚒️

Spurs:

  • Struggle to create chances in open play
  • Sit deep in their 4-4-2 (see image) for long periods
  • Can be played through

West Ham:

  • Also sit very deep without the ball
  • Their attacks can be very disjointed
  • Vulnerable from set-pieces

Analysis ✍️

Both sides are in poor form, and both managers are on the verge of being sacked. Spurs are the more solid defence, but it's hard to know how well both sides will perform.

🔮 Prediction: Spurs win!

FPL Ratings

  • TOT Defence 🟢 – Decent chance of a CS + good prospects from set-pieces
  • TOT Attack 🟠 – West Ham drop very deep and invite a lot of attacking pressure
  • WHU Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity
  • WHU Attack 🟠 – Can definitely cause damage in transition, but it's hard to know if they'll turn up

🎯 Differential Pick: Bowen (9.0%) – If West Ham score, he'll most likely be involved!

🐈‍⬛ Sunderland vs Crystal Palace 🦅

Sunderland:

  • Have been defending in a 4-4-2 (see image)
  • Not been as defensively solid as usual
  • Can be blunt in attack

Crystal Palace:

  • Will set up in a 5-4-1
  • Brennan Johnson has shown promising signs in attack
  • Vulnerable from set-pieces

Analysis ✍️

I expect Palace's 5-4-1 to keep Sunderland relatively quiet, and create chances in transition. Sunderland can be tough to break down, but they haven't been as solid in recent weeks.

🔮 Prediction: Palace win!

FPL Ratings

  • SUN Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS + good DEFCON opportunity
  • SUN Attack 🟠 – Palace aren't in the best form, but they're tough to break down
  • CRY Defence 🟢 – Good CS opportunity
  • CRY Attack 🟠 – Sunderland are solid, but I think they'll get chances in transition

🎯 Differential Pick: Johnson (2.6%) – He's shown some good signs, and he's Palace's main threat in behind!

🌳 Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal 🔴

Nottingham Forest:

  • Will probably defend in a 4-5-1 (see image)
  • Not that defensively solid
  • Not as threatening in transition without Chris Wood

Arsenal:

  • Will dominate the ball
  • Can struggle to break teams down
  • Get into a solid shape when they lose the ball and are tough to break down

Analysis ✍️

I think the Gunners will eventually find their way through Forest's 4-5-1. Forest can be dangerous in transition, but I expect Arsenal's defence to neutralise them.

🔮 Prediction: Arsenal win!

FPL Ratings

  • ARS Defence 🟢 – Decent chance of a CS
  • ARS Attack 🟠 – Could be good if they score early, but Forest can definitely keep life difficult
  • NFO Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity, with a small chance of a CS
  • NFO Attack 🔴 – Don't expect them to get many chances

🎯 Differential Pick: Trossard (1.6%) – Will probably start + he's been popping up with important goals all season!

🐺 Wolves vs Newcastle ⚫️

Wolves:

  • Will sit in a 5-3-2 (see image)
  • Dangerous in transition
  • Can be exposed defensively when they open up and attack more

Newcastle:

  • Have struggled to break teams down at times
  • Dangerous from set-pieces
  • Wissa's threat in behind looks like it can replicate last season's attacking dynamics

Analysis ✍️

I expect Wolves' low block to make life difficult for the Magpies, and their pace on the counter could definitely create chances. However, Wolves can be open when they commit men forward, so this could be a good route to chances for Newcastle.

🔮 Prediction: Tight game, draw!

FPL Ratings

  • WOL Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity + a small chance of a CS
  • WOL Attack 🟠 – Will probably get a few good opportunities in transition
  • NEW Defence 🟠 – Decent chance of a CS
  • NEW Attack 🟠 – Wolves are tough to break down

🎯 Differential Pick: Wissa (1.1%) – Can definitely see him pouncing on crosses into a crowded penalty area!

🥷 Aston Villa vs Everton 🍬

Aston Villa:

  • Will drop into a 4-4-2 without the ball (see image)
  • Very patient in possession
  • Dangerous in transition

Everton:

  • Keane is suspended, plus Gueye and Ndiaye are still at AFCON
  • Have been poor defensively in recent weeks
  • Not as threatening in attack without Ndiaye

Analysis ✍️

Everton will sit deep for long periods and can definitely frustrate Villa. However, their defence has been poor recently, and Villa are in great form.

🔮 Prediction: Villa win!

FPL Ratings

  • AVL Defence 🟢 – Decent chance of a CS + DEFCON
  • AVL Attack 🟢 – Everton aren't at their best
  • EVE Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity
  • EVE Attack 🟠 – Villa's high line can always be opened up

🎯 Differential Pick: Grealish (9.6%) – If Everton score, he'll probably be involved + he's up against his old club!

🕊️ Brighton vs Bournemouth 🍒

Brighton:

  • Drop into a deep, compact shape without the ball (see image – has been a back 5 recently)
  • Struggled to take advantage of counter-attacks against City (Minteh was a big miss)
  • Can be vulnerable to long balls in behind their defence

Bournemouth:

  • Have lost their best attacker (Semenyo)
  • Will press high and play very direct football
  • Vulnerable away from home

Analysis ✍️

Brighton are good enough to play through Bournemouth's press and to force them into a deep block. However, they're also susceptible to conceding chances against Bournemouth's direct approach.

This should be a great watch!

🔮 Prediction: Draw!

FPL Ratings

  • BHA Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity
  • BHA Attack 🟢 – Bournemouth are extremely vulnerable away from home
  • BOU Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity, but I don't see a CS
  • BOU Attack 🟢 – They should get space in behind Brighton's defence

🎯 Differential Pick: Kroupi (4.1%) – He's lethal in front of goal and could get more chances without Semenyo in the side!
