🔮 GW20 Complete Guide 🔮

⭐️ Breaking Down Every Game
⭐️ Rating FPL Prospects
⭐️ Predicting Results

🥷 Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest 🌳

Aston Villa:

  • Happy to sit back in their 4-4-2 and play on the counter

  • Sometimes sit too deep and invite pressure

  • Watkins has looked sharp recently

Nottingham Forest:

  • Defend in a 4-4-2 (see image) or a 4-5-1

  • Have been fairly open under Dyche (for his standards)

  • Hutchinson, Jesus, and Gibbs-White have looked sharp recently

Analysis ✍️

I expect Forest to sit deep and play on the counter. This is probably the best way to play against Villa – they can struggle to break low blocks down.

If Forest open up too much and the game becomes end-to-end, Villa may have the upper hand.

🔮 Prediction: Forest win!

FPL Ratings

  • AVL Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS

  • AVL Attack 🟠 – I think they'll face a fairly solid low block

  • NFO Defence 🟢 – I like their DEFCON + CS chances

  • NFO Attack 🟠 – I think they'll get chances in transition

🎯 Differential Pick: Gibbs-White (2.8%) – Could be key to capitalising in transition + he looked good against City!

🕊️ Brighton vs Burnley 🍷

Brighton:

  • Minteh is probably out with an injury, but Mitoma could start

  • Will dominate the ball and commit bodies forward

  • Have looked vulnerable in transition

Burnley:

  • Defend deep in a 5-2-3/5-4-1 (see image)

  • Not clinical when they get into the final third

  • Marcus Edwards has injected some pace into their attacks

Analysis ✍️

Burnley will most likely sit deep and face heavy Brighton pressure. Brighton often struggle to break low blocks down and get burned on the counter.

However, Burnley often give cheap goals away and aren't clinical on the counter.

🔮 Prediction: Brighton win!

FPL Ratings

  • BHA Defence 🟢 – Good chance of a CS

  • BHA Attack 🟠 – I think they'll eventually get chances, but Minteh is a big loss

  • BUR Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity + a small chance of a CS

  • BUR Attack 🟠 – They should get good opportunities in transition

🎯 Differential Pick: Welbeck (4.7%) – I fancy him up against Burnley's CBs!

🐺 Wolves vs West Ham ⚒️

Wolves:

  • Aren't clinical in the final third

  • Will sit deep in a 5-3-2 (see image)

  • Look defensively shaky whenever they open up

West Ham:

  • Drop very deep without the ball

  • Played a 4-5-1 against Brighton

  • Bowen looks sharp, but Paqueta could be out

Analysis ✍️

I think Wolves' low block can frustrate West Ham. However, I expect both sides to open up, which should lead to a slightly more end-to-end game.

West Ham's attack can cause Wolves' defence serious issues in transition. Similarly, I think Wolves' physical CF (Tolu or JSL) and their pacey wingers could overwhelm West Ham's backline.

🔮 Prediction: Draw!

FPL Ratings

  • WOL Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, but I don't see a CS

  • WOL Attack 🟢 – I think they'll get good chances on the counter

  • WHU Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, but I don't see a CS

  • WHU Attack 🟢 – I'm expecting the game to open up

🎯 Differential Pick: Mane (0.2%) – Looks dangerous in transition, and West Ham's defence tends to be quite open!

🍒 Bournemouth vs Arsenal 🔴

Bournemouth:

  • Will press high (see image)

  • Look very open on the counter

  • They aren't solid when they're in a low block

Arsenal:

  • Scary from set-pieces

  • Hard to break down when they drop into a 4-4-2

  • Ruthless against Villa – they took their chances well

Analysis ✍️

I think Bournemouth can cause issues with their high press and stop Arsenal from progressing. However, I expect Arsenal to create good chances whenever they get past the press.

Gyokeres' physicality could cause Bournemouth's CBs some issues and free up space for the rest of Arsenal's attack.

🔮 Prediction: Arsenal win!

FPL Ratings

  • BOU Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity

  • BOU Attack 🟠 – I think they'll get a few decent chances

  • ARS Defence 🟢 – Good DEFCON opportunity, with a decent chance of a CS

  • ARS Attack 🟢 – If this game opens up, this could be a massacre

🎯 Differential Pick: Gyokeres (9.8%) – Bournemouth's CBs can struggle against physical CFs!

⚪️ Leeds vs Manchester United 👹

Leeds:

  • Happy to sit in a 5-4-1 defensive block (see image)

  • Dangerous in transition + Calvert-Lewin is in great form

  • Can be vulnerable when games become chaotic and their defence is isolated

Manchester United:

  • Moved back to a 3-4-3 against Wolves

  • Struggle to break low blocks down

  • Can be caught in transition when they dominate the ball

Analysis ✍️

I think Leeds can frustrate United and profit on the counter.

Mount and Bruno's availability is crucial – if they're both out, I can't see United creating enough chances. If they are fit, I expect United to use a 4-2-3-1 and create good chances.

🔮 Prediction: Leeds win!

FPL Ratings

  • LEE Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity, with a fair chance of a CS

  • LEE Attack 🟢 – They should get chances in transition

  • MUN Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS

  • MUN Attack 🟠 – If this game opens up, they could easily score 2+ goals

🎯 Differential Pick: Calvert-Lewin (9.8%) – Should get good chances in transition + his physicality could overwhelm United's CBs!

🍬 Everton vs Brentford 🐝

Everton:

  • Defend in a 4-4-2 and are happy to drop their wingers deep (see image)

  • Most vulnerable when they dominate the ball

  • Can struggle to break teams down

Brentford:

  • Play very direct football

  • Dangerous in transition

  • Defence can be slightly error-prone

Analysis ✍️

Both sides play direct football and keep things relatively solid. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Barry and Thiago use their physicality to dominate their opposing CBs.

This game should be fairly tight and will probably be decided by individual battles.

🔮 Prediction: Everton win!

FPL Ratings

  • EVE Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, with a fair chance of a CS

  • EVE Attack 🟠 – Could be quite a cagey game

  • BRE Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS + decent DEFCON opportunity

  • BRE Attack 🟠 – Could be quite a cagey game

🎯 Differential Pick: Barry (0.4%) – Brentford's CBs can be error-prone + he can be a handful!

⚪️ Fulham vs Liverpool 🔴

Fulham:

  • Defend in a 4-4-2 (see image) and are tough to break down

  • Haven't been as attacking without Iwobi and Chukwueze

  • Can be open in transition

Liverpool:

  • Defence has looked shaky this season

  • Have struggled to break teams down

  • Vulnerable from set-pieces

Analysis ✍️

Fulham's 4-4-2 could keep Liverpool relatively quiet and create chances in transition. Raul is always a handful – he's the type of CF that can force mistakes out of Konate.

Fulham aren't the most dangerous attack, but they're always a handful at Craven Cottage.

🔮 Prediction: Draw!

FPL Ratings

  • FUL Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, with a small chance of a CS

  • FUL Attack 🟠 – Should get a few chances on the counter

  • LIV Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS

  • LIV Attack 🟠 – Fulham will probably be hard to break down

🎯 Differential Pick: Raul (2.3%) – He's in great form and is always a handful!

⚫️ Newcastle vs Crystal Palace 🦅

Newcastle:

  • Will play a 4-5-1 and occasionally defend in a 5-4-1 (see image)

  • Can struggle to break low blocks down

  • Can be caught in transition

Crystal Palace:

  • Hard to break down

  • Have been vulnerable from set-pieces recently

  • Significantly less attacking without Munoz and Sarr

Analysis ✍️

I think Palace's 5-4-1 will keep Newcastle relatively quiet and create chances in transition. However, Palace are nowhere near as clinical as they usually are in the final third.

If the game opens up, Newcastle's attack can outgun Palace's.

🔮 Prediction: Palace win!

FPL Ratings

  • NEW Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, with a small chance of a CS

  • NEW Attack 🟠 – Palace are tough to break down

  • CRY Defence 🟠 – Decent CS + DEFCON opportunity

  • CRY Attack 🟠 – They're not at their best in the final third

🎯 Differential Pick: Gordon (5.3%) – He's on pens and is slowly picking up form!

⚪️ Spurs vs Sunderland 🐈‍⬛

Spurs:

  • Defend in a 4-4-2

  • Struggle to break low blocks down

  • Most dangerous when they can counter-attack directly

Sunderland:

  • Will most likely play a 4-4-2 (see image)

  • Can be wasteful in the final third

  • Tough to break down

Analysis ✍️

I expect Sunderland to keep Spurs relatively quiet with their defensive block. Le Bris' side are good at playing out of the press and progressing, so I expect them to create chances against Spurs' 4-4-2.

🔮 Prediction: Sunderland win!

FPL Ratings

  • TOT Defence 🟠 – Decent DEFCON opportunity, with a small chance of a CS

  • TOT Attack 🟠 – Sunderland are tough to break down

  • SUN Defence 🟠 – Decent CS + DEFCON opportunity

  • SUN Attack 🟠 – I expect them to create good chances

🎯 Differential Pick: Brobbey (0.3%) – Strong physical presence and could be dangerous in transition!

🌃 Manchester City vs Chelsea 🔵

Manchester City:

  • Can be vulnerable in transition

  • Very threatening in possession

  • Their central overloads (see image) are very tough to stop

Chelsea:

  • Just sacked Maresca, so we have no idea how they'll set up

  • Their defence looked very shaky against Bournemouth

  • Caicedo is suspended

Analysis ✍️

It's basically impossible to know how Chelsea will set up. City are in great form and create a lot of chances, but they have been vulnerable in transition. Chelsea could definitely sting them in transition.

🔮 Prediction: City win!

FPL Ratings

  • MCI Defence 🟠 – Small chance of a CS + could be a decent DEFCON opportunity

  • MCI Attack 🟢 – Chelsea looked open against Bournemouth

  • CHE Defence 🟠 – Good DEFCON opportunity

  • CHE Attack 🟠 – City can be quite open

🎯 Differential Pick: Delap (0.9%) – Hard to deal with physically + could get chances in transition!
